Department of Public Health Dentistry

Community/Preventive dentistry is a dynamic discipline of dentistry that delivers fundamental and advanced health knowledge to individuals and communities, prevention of oral/dental disorders, and oral hygiene awareness in any population. The major goal of the subject is to attain good oral hygiene and to raise public health awareness through organized community activities.

The curriculum provides students with a broad range of knowledge and practical experience in the philosophy and foundations of dental public health, the primary health care approach, an introduction to oral disease epidemiology as it relates to dental research, behavioral sciences, biostatistics, and oral health services.

This course seeks to pique students' attention and encourage them to think critically about community dental health concerns and their relevance to clinical practice. Community Dentistry is a fundamental scientific course given in the second professional year of the BDS program.

The Postgraduate programme started with three seats per year.

• Oral health outreach programs-The department is vital in ensuring that the institution's social accountability and obligation are met. We offer oral health education, dental disease prevention, and minor treatment procedures at the campsite. To provide oral health services, we have a fully equipped Mobile dental van with two chairs.
• Comprehensive oral health care-where we care for your total oral health needs in collaboration with other specialists. Preventive care, restorative care, endodontic therapy, oral prophylaxis, and other services are provided to the patient.
